You're Fired!
Have you ever wished you could be on ‘The Apprentice’?
The Best Leader Dave Rose, from Selly Oak Constituency Managers, gave his team the opportunity to rise to the challenge of an ‘Apprentice’ style task. The objective was to create a new brand identity for the beauty salon at Cocks Moors Wood Leisure Centre, mirroring the popular programme the team were split in to two teams to encourage a healthy competitive spirit!
Their tasks included coming up with a new name for the salon, designing a distinctive new logo and poster, propose three ideas that will improve the salon and make a 30 second TV commercial promoting the salon (including a beauty demonstration).
They enlisted the principal leisure manager Paul Walls and beauty salon manager Jenny Ezewele to help with the advert but it was down to the untapped creative skills and talent of the team to come up with suggestions, which resulted in two excellent short video clips and some unique ideas for names and logos…………. Winners will be revealed at a later date.
BEST Leader Dave said ‘It was amazing to see the teams reaction when they were presented with their challenge – they were enthused… it brought the team together and achieved some great ideas for pertinent business objectives.’

Thanks for your comment, and I can understand your frustration. This team and their BEST leader had a task to do to improve their service delivery, and used it as a team building opportunity as well as a work tool. If you are a Council employee you also have the opportunity with your team to apply to Dragons Den for small amounts of funding, if you can demonstrate the improvements in service delivery. It makes our service more effective in the long run, even with no Sir Alan Sugar!
