If you haven’t already signed up to experience Next Generation CMT, now is your chance!
After three fascinating debates on topics ranging from health in the city to how to work better with our partners, there is space for more Generation BEST members to take part.
Next Generation CMT meets monthly with membership on a rotating basis so you won’t be expected to attend every month. The Corporate Management Team, made up of all Strategic Directors and Chief Executive, Stephen Hughes, select topics for Generation BEST members to consider and feed back on.
We start each debate by hearing background to the issue from the project leader, followed by a chance to debate the topic and make some recommendations, which are presented to CMT the following week by a Generation BEST spokesperson.
The experience is a fantastic opportunity to gain an understanding of how decisions are made at a senior level, as well as allowing members to gain experience in strategic thinking, prioritising workloads and working as a team.
At the October meeting, the group heard from Elsa Conaty and Amerdip Dhesy from the Corporate Policy Team about the current review of the Council’s relationships with external stakeholders and partners. The group were able to contribute their views on progress made, ideas for moving the project forward and to debate who was the best person to lead on it.
Generation BEST member and BGDP Project Officer, Caroline Davis, attended CMT to relay the outcomes of the meeting, which were well received. The group’s reputation as a sounding board is now spreading, with Directors requesting to meet with Generation BEST members to gain a fresh perspective on other important issues.
