MANAGER CHALLENGE

Manager Challenge!

Your opportunity to demonstrate “excellence” & “success”

10th July 2008Birmingham City Football Club

9.15am-7pm

(Including drinks reception & winners presentation with fellow
competitors and Cllr Alan Rudge)

This exciting event has been especially designed for the managers of the Council, to pit their wits against each other and have some fun whilst demonstrating the councils core values.

Managers will be given the opportunity to develop their practical skills, learn from the experience and apply this learning to the workplace. They will return to their teams equipped with new strategies to implement.

The event is designed to help participants develop their key competencies including Interpersonal skills; political awareness; initiative, creativity and self-motivation. Benefit from the chance to learn how to strategically plan, prioritise and action; diagnose and analyse strategic problems and opportunities and build teams and develop partnerships. Teams also learn crucial team building and partnership working; negotiating, influencing and presentation skills

How will it work?

Staff from different departments will work together in clusters as a ‘management team’ to deal with a series of issues that might be faced in a real life work situation. Teams are encouraged to form partnerships in their cluster, deal with the press, make appointments with their ‘leader’ and other key stakeholders, in order to achieve excellence and success for their team.

We are looking for 100 people to take part in the LGC Mini Challenge which will take place on 10th July 2008 at Birmingham City Football Club; with the winning top 3 teams (with the most points) to go forward to the national challenge on Thursday 2nd October to fight off other local authorities to win the challenge for Birmingham!

You can submit a team entry (up to 6 people) or individuals can enter and be assigned a team nearer the date.

Please send your nominations or expressions of interest to Lucy L Kenny (lotus notes) or call on 0121 675 1579. Alternatively, contact your directorate BEST Programme manager to book your individual or team place!
