BEST is Regional Training Award Winner!

Birmingham City Council’s BEST Programme and its partners Organisation Development Consultancy Stanton Marris, were pronounced winners of the Regional Training Award in the ‘partnerships and collaborations’ category, at an awards ceremony held at the National Motorcycle Museum in October. Stanton Marris were instrumental in the design and delivery of the pilot, and first programme in 2006. The National Training Awards are the most prestigious awards for training in the UK and celebrate organisations and individuals that have achieved outstanding business and personal success through investment in training. Judges visited the council in the summer to learn from the BEST programme team and Stanton Marris about how BEST came about, see BEST workshop materials and hear how BEST leaders are trained. They also had the chance to speak to BEST Leaders about their experience of their training and the impact of BEST for their team and council services.

Judges were impressed that the partnership between the council and Stanton Marris worked so well and that the programme was allowed freedom to evolve and develop. They felt the benefits to individuals as well as the council were well presented and commended the way that BEST had helped staff to feel part of the wider organisation. The judges added; “This was really a massive achievement in such a short timescale. Birmingham City Council are truly leading the way in employee engagement.”

An enormous thank you to BEST Leaders and teams across the council for your hard work and commitment to BEST, which is recognised by this award and in all our successes this year. Congratulations!
