Birmingham BEST Masterclass - 11th November 2009

The Birmingham BEST Masterclass is a free half day event focussing on Birmingham City Council’s award winning employee engagement programme - BEST. BEST is based on Birmingham City Council’s core values: Belief, Excellence, Success & Trust. It’s aim is to motivate staff and enable them to think differently.
2009 has been a particularly successful year for the BEST Programme having scooped the following of accolades:
Municipal Journal – People and Workforce Achievement Award, Winners
HR Excellence – Outstanding Employee Engagement Strategy Award, Winners
HR Excellence – Gold Award, Winners
PPMA – Innovation in HR, Winners
Midlands Excellence Awards - Innovation Category, Highly Commended
National Training Awards – Regional Winner (West Midlands) Partnership & Collaboration Working
Shortlisted for a Personnel Today Award, Winners TBA 26 November 2009
To follow on from this success Birmingham City Council would like to share our learning with you, what has worked and what has not and how we have implemented the programme across a 23,000 strong workforce and changed the way our services work. This is in preparation for ‘taking our model to market’ in 2010.
The programme for the day includes a representative from Kingston Business School discussing their research on strategies for employee engagement, some of our own Birmingham City Council staff to talk about the background of the programme, the importance of senior leadership and frontline staff sharing their engagement journey, there will also be an opportunity to network over lunch.
