LocalGovCamp

Last updated 5th October 2009

We are delighted to be able to announce that LocalGovCamp will be taking place on Saturday 20th June at the Fazeley Studios in Birmingham.

LocalGovCamp is an unconference for local government. It will be a gathering of people interested in how local government needs to adapt to a world of social networks and data sharing.

Is an unconference, there is no agenda prepared and distributed in advance. Instead, all the sessions at the event are decided upon and scheduled during the first part of the day. The idea is that everyone who attends should be prepared to lead a session, or at least actively participate in one. The sessions will be as long as they need to be, though probably around 45 minutes will be the assumed length. If a session finishes before then, fine - more time to go grab coffee and have a natter! If conversations need to carry on, then find a space somewhere to do so, or schedule a follow up session later in the day. Lots of the discussion so far about LocalGovCamp has focused on the web, and specifically social media. This is great, and a huge part of the event is all about sharing experience and ideas on how local councils can use the social web. Anyone who is interested in how the web can be used to change the way they work should come along. That means comms people, policy people, community management people, project people or just anyone curious about these new technologies and how they can be applied.

There are no fees for this events, please visit www.localgovcamp.com and book your place - spaces are limited so act now!
