'Living It' - November 2011
The Living it Awards are a chance for staff to recognise and thank their BEST Leaders, Managers, teams or fellow employees for the work that they have done. These awards are particularly important as it involves staff being recognised by their colleagues for the achievements they make. 2011 has been an extremely difficult year for most; however its testament to you all that we have seen so many fantastic winners. This year we have presented over 40 awards, more than any other year since the scheme was introduced. We would like to congratulate all of our winners in 2011, some of our most recent winners are:
Forward 4 Work Team, from the Development Directorate, who have won Team of the Month in October. The team were nominated because they always go above and beyond what is expected of them, exceed targets and have a ‘can do’ attitude. They are open, honest and very supportive of each other; sharing information and knowledge to improve their service. The team provide an outstanding service and show great commitment and dedication. They have a true passion for their work and their enthusiasm is infectious.
Michael Kenyon, Trainee Building Control Surveyor, Building Consultancy within the Development Directorate. Michael has won Employee of the Month in November for being an extremely valued member of staff, continually contributing to the success of the team and displaying the core values and behaviours.
Michael inspires his colleagues to succeed, encouraging their involvement in the teams overall successes. He has a positive, motivated and honest approach to his role that has earned him respect from his colleagues.
Gill Bourbage, Administrative Assistant, Organisation and Management Support team, Corporate Resources Directorate. Gill has won Leader of the Month in November for being a committed BEST Leader since 2007, she always uses the process to motivate and encourage her team.
Gill always tries to enhance her skills in order to support change and development within her team. She takes a positive and proactive approach to all she does, always offering help and support to her colleagues.
Dawn Hunt, Early Years Manager, Early Years and Childcare / Family Information Section within Children Young People and Families Directorate. Dawn won Manager of the Month in November for being instrumental in the changes to the Early Years and Childcare / Family Information Service. The outcome of these changes have drastically improves outcomes for children in Birmingham.
Dawn gains trust and co-operation of others through her continued display of positive commitment, drive and a massive amount of enthusiasm. She supports over 150 members of staff, inspiring them to succeed and enabling change for the good of the service.
