Congratulations to Marc Crump, Business Manager for Planning Building Consultancy within the Development Directorate, who has won BEST Manager of the month award. Marc was nominated because his team feel he is honest, discreet and fair in dealing with staff on all matters. He creates real energy to solve issues in a timely way and removes unnecessary bureaucracy.
Marc is very focused on outcome and strives for excellence, he rises to the challenges that he faces. His team trust him and are proud to work with him.
The quality of nominations was so high for BEST Leaders for the month of January that we awarded a joint award to –
Peter King from Payroll & Pensions Services within the Chief Executives Directorate. Peter was nominated because he has shown real passion carrying out his BEST role. His enthusiasm really shines through and is infectious. Peter took on the role of BEST leader for two teams and was able to drive them through the BEST process and focused to resolve real issues. Now the both teams have stronger links and they have been able to streamline process and improve efficiency.
The joint BEST ‘Leader of the Month’ also went to Louise Milner from Birmingham Audit, Computer Audit Team within Chief Executives Directorate. Several members of her team nominated Louise because she believes she can make a real difference to the way her team operates and has been very positive towards achieving success. Louise encourages the team to be creative and eliminates any unnecessary barriers using her “can do” attitude. Now the team have belief that they can move forward and can continue to make a difference and achieve job satisfaction.
The BEST Team of the Month Award for January went to Tower Hill Library within Housing and Consistencies Directorate, who were nominated by Kevin Duffy. They were nominated for the excellent work they did on the Tales from Tower Hill Project. The project aimed to read to 2200 children over a 2 week period holding 76 sessions. This was a great example of cross working, the project recruited community volunteers from the police, leisure colleagues, year 10 pupils and members of Birmingham City Council. They were very successful and had excellent feedback from all – congratulations.
The BEST Programme Team would like to say well done to all winners and thank you for your continuing hard works and dedication- without you BEST would not be possible!
