Laughter and Learning in the Library
Would you look forward to a bit of a giggle with every visit to the library? The BEST team at Kents Moat Library, part of the Housing & Constituencies Directorate, had some great ideas for creating a fun atmosphere for children and adults alike in their library, and through BEST they have already made a success of them!
The team, supported by BEST Leader Adam McVeighty, wanted to help service users get the most out of their library, enjoy their time there and to help children really love libraries. They decided to put together boards displaying a Joke of the Week, Poem of the Week and themed recommended reads for their service users.
Since putting up the boards they have received some great feedback from the public. The recommended reads put together a selection of books around a theme and have proved a great way of engaging children through their favourite things; the Poem of the Week has given a chance to learn and appreciate poetry in a fun way; and the Joke of the Week gives some comic relief!
The team are always keen to engage with their service users in the local community as well as their colleagues across the council, so if you’ve read a great poem or heard a good joke, why not get in touch with the team and share it? Please email Kents Moat Library via Lotus Notes or call on 0121 464 5755 and take your chance to get involved!
