I have worked for Birmingham City Council for twenty five years mainly within the Adults & Communities Directorate.
In February 2008 I took on a new role as a Team Manager for Residential and Day Care Services and became heavily involved in BEST. I can honestly say it changed my working life. To say that I was a cynic at the beginning would be an understatement but within a few short months I became not only convinced that BEST could work in my team but a public advocate for BEST across the whole Adults and Communities Directorate.
Prior to joining the BEST Team I ran monthly support groups for BEST Leaders, coordinated numerous BEST inspired community events, worked in partnership with a registered charity and other teams and supported BEST in many other areas whilst still undertaking my full time role.
BEST has inspired and empowered me to not only strive to become a Success in all I do but to encourage others to do the same which in turn has instilled a great sense of Belief and Trust., being awarded BEST Manager of the year in recognition of all my hard work was, well just Excellent!
I am looking forward to being able to totally focus on BEST and am excited to be joining the Children, Young People & Families Directorate.
