Hodge Hill Constituency Office Get Physical
BEST leader Sue Moore from the Hodge Hill Constituency Office and her team took “Living It!” to heart when they decided to challenge themselves to get fit for the Race for Life.
The team have all had close experience of the devastating effects of cancer and as part of their BEST action to support each other through difficult times they formed the “Hodge Hill Honeys” and decided to run the 5km race around Sutton Coldfield on 12th July. Each team member set their own fitness goal and ever since their decision to race they’ve been getting fit together and pushing each other to work harder as a team.
Although they juggle busy working lives with equally hectic home lives, they’ve pushed themselves to compete and are now well on their way to achieving their fitness goals ahead of the race!
“To those looking at the team, we are just ordinary middle-aged women, with families and husbands, trying to do a full-time job, run a home and do the weekly food shop,” says BEST leader Sue Moore. “We all, over the past twelve months, have experienced first-hand the scourge of cancer. All believe in helping with anything that can improve treatment and survival against this awful disease. Cancer does not have dignity but these ladies, with their fund-raising, do.”
“We are great friends, who all help one another, make each other laugh and are all unique.” The team comprises of Kim who’s great with words, Lisa who loves her horses, Emma the natural-born communicator, Rachel the horticulturalist and Sue the “posh bird”! Through their determination they’ve helped each other to cope with pain, and are now pushing hard to raise the funds needed to help others.
The Hodge Hill Honeys are working hard to increase their sponsorship – they would love your help! If you would like to get involved and sponsor the team then please contact Sue via Lotus Notes or on 0121 303 9206 and show your support!
