Regulatory Services Lead The Way And Grow Their Own!

Calthorpe Regulatory Services in the Chief Executive’s directorate consist of three BEST teams: Food Safety, Health & Safety and Regulation Support. There are approximately twenty five team members and last year they held one big BEST workshop for everyone. Out of that workshop came three fantastic actions which have provided a more professional service and image to their customers, helped improve sustainability within Birmingham and maintained and increased their team camaraderie.

To make it easier for visitors, they have improved the signage outside the building and hope to apply to the BEST Dragons’ Den in the New Year to have professional signs made to direct the way. The team have also taken paint brushes in hand and improved the meeting area facilities where courses and meetings are held. Last but not least, the team have created a vegetable garden for all to enjoy. Members of the team brought in seeds and one evening in the summer they planted beetroot, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce and radish. Although the heavens opened, it didn’t dampen their spirits and one team member said “…we were absolutely soaked but we had great fun…next year we aim to plant some more…”

This truly is a demonstration of a team working together with all four core values of belief, excellence, success and trust and BEST would like to thank them for providing such a positive example.
