Green Fingered Team Clean Up

Last updated 24th April 2009

The Green Fingers Team led by BEST Leader Lynne Tandy part of the Wardens Service from the Environmental Health Area Office, based at Tyburn Road, Erdington wanted to create an outdoor space that could be used by their team and others to relax and get some fresh air over lunch breaks. Through a BEST workshop the team identified that the canal area at the back of their offices would be perfect for this, if only it were cleaner and tidier.

Working in partnership with British Waterways the team are taking part in the annual spring waterways campaign – “Towpath Tidy 2009” – which is aimed at reducing and preventing littering and keeping Britain’s canals clean, tidy and safe. The team have been using their own time during weekends and lunch breaks to transform the area into a safe and pleasant place to sit for all the visitors and employees at the Tyburn Road offices.

The team, who are showing absolute commitment to this project, will be donating some items themselves and are planning to approach the BEST Dragons’ Den for funding to purchase some furniture, plants and fencing. Good Luck to them and well done for showing belief in being able to make a difference and help the environment!
