Launch Event

The launch event for the councils new younger employee network; Generation BEST took place on Monday 15th December 2008 in the Banqueting Suite, Council House.

The event provided the launch pad for the network, enabling members to find out what they can look forward to throughout the New Year.

At the network launch members received their distinctive Generation BEST folders, which give an insight into the opportunities and experiences offered by the network.

The event also provided attendees with the opportunity to network with other employees from across all directorates, helping to establish social and working relationships

Speakers at the event included Cllr Alan Rudge, Cabinet Member for HR and Equalities who gave an inspiring speech about the importance of employee engagement and developing talent within the organisation to help make Birmingham City Council becoming the employer of choice for the region.

Also speaking at the event was Anthony McCourt, overall winner of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2008. Anthony gave a highly motivational speech about his pride in Birmingham and how the council is at the forefront of the city’s reputation. The Birmingham Young Professional of the Year award is highly prestigious and acknowledges the city’s future leaders and supports the development of leadership in Birmingham, Outstanding Generation BEST members can look forward to be nominated for the 2009 awards.
