Generation BEST Review
It has now been over 6 months since the launch of Generation BEST, the council’s network for younger employees, which was launched by Cllr Alan Rudge in December 2008. The network aims to empower younger members of staff to fulfil their potential and promote the value younger employees bring to the workplace. The network is non-discriminatory and open to all council employees who are young in age or in terms of career. With over 180 members already, we have been delighted by the enthusiastic response.
Since its launch, Generation BEST members have won the Young Metropolitan Borough Council of the Year award, signed up for the WMLGA's leadership coaching programme, taken part in training on managing change and facilitation skills and debated crucial issues for the council at Next Generation CMT.
So that we can continue to make the network as valuable as possible, we are carrying out a half-year review to give members the opportunity to feedback on their experience of it so far and to contribute ideas for future activities.
