Generation BEST Launches Next Generation CMT

Last updated 5th August 2009

Generation BEST is delighted to be launching its latest initiative, Next Generation CMT, at a pilot meeting this month.

Here is your chance to debate real issues affecting the city, have your say in shaping the organisation and raise your own profile amongst senior people in the Council.

Chief Executive Stephen Hughes is a true advocate of NGCMT and all CMT members are signed up to the idea.

Like Birmingham City Council's Corporate Management Team, Next Generation CMT will meet monthly to debate crucial issues facing the city and the organisation and make decisions about the way forward. Issues discussed will be those that CMT have chosen from their real agenda and have specifically asked Generation BEST to consider.

Generation BEST’s Next Generation CMT will enable network members to gain a thorough understanding of how decisions are made at a senior level, as well as allowing members to gain experience in strategic thinking, prioritising workloads and working as a team. It also offers directors the opportunity to meet our ‘up and coming leaders’ and offer support and guidance where time permits.

Initially, the group will be made up of 8 Generation BEST members who will rotate each month to enable as many members as possible to take part. A spokesperson from the Next Generation CMT group will then be invited to attend part of the core CMT meeting the following week to feed back on the group's discussions and offer strategic thinking from a different perspective.
