People enjoying the Fete

On Saturday 18th July the Yardley Home Care team held a charity fete at Radley Court in Sheldon, raising over £1000 for Marie Curie Nurses, Acorns Children’s Charity, Help For Heroes and Radley Court Tenants Association.

Jackie Pearce, BEST Team Leader, said; “The event came out of a BEST team lunch as a way in which we could involve the community as well as giving something back, and something that the whole team would be part of and feel proud of. I think we achieved that objective!”

The fete was attended by staff, residents and the local community and everyone had a lovely time taking part in the different activities. The team asked staff, residents and local business to donate something to sell or raffle and the community rose to the challenge, with one elderly resident, Mrs Nightingale, knitting two baby cardigans for the cause.

The stalls, raffles and tombola proved extremely popular and face painting enticed children and adults alike, with staff sponsoring each other to have their face painted!

Mr Mannering, a tenant at Radley Court, said; “I thought the garden fete went exceptionally well. It was well attended, well laid out and well organised – the organisers should be complimented. I couldn’t believe so many people came, every time I looked in there was more people!”

BEST Manager, Margaret Paine, added; “So many people said how much they enjoyed it, and that we made it a fun time, so much so they can't wait to do a repeat. The garden fete provided a further benefit in that unsold items were passed on to the Marie Rose Day Centre, a centre attended by one of our Radley Court service users, so that their users will also be able to raise funds from them.”
