Belief
Civil Advice Team demonstrate Belief through supporting charity
The Civil Advice Team, which is part of Trading Standards, decided to use one of their BEST actions to show their support for various charities.
The team, which is based in the Chief Executives directorate, led by BEST Leader Lesley Dunning, decided to hold various themed events including a Macmillan Coffee Morning and a ‘Wear Red Day’ for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Children in Need.
The team managed to raise an amazing £400 through coffee mornings, cake sales, raffles and donating old mobile phones. One member of staff even did tarot readings! Proving that by demonstrating the Council’s core value of ‘Belief’ you can achieve amazing results!
Adults and Communities Team show Belief in Sustainability!
The Community Learning Development Team within the Younger Adults Adult Education Department, felt that their team was not doing enough to save energy and the environment. So at their BEST workshop they felt it was an ideal opportunity to make the change.
The team, led by BEST Leader Maria Dando decided to make staff and service users aware of how much energy is wasted by not fully switching off lights, PCs and printers so the team decided to design posters to raise awareness and encourage sustainability.
This action is directly linked to one of the Councils five priorities of putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
The posters have been a huge success and now staff ensure that they are all ‘fully switched off’ helping to save money as well as energy.
