Andy Albon is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a graduate of both the London School of Economics and the Polytechnic of Central London. With almost 40 years' experience in local government personnel, Andy has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the profession. He has gained this, in his early years, working within Social Services and Central Departments within the East End of London and latterly within the Education Authority of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and as Assistant Chief Executive responsible for Human Resources and Equalities with Leicester City Council.

As Director of Equalities and Human Resources of Birmingham City Council, a post he has held for 10 years, Andy is responsible for the Human Resources function within Britain’s largest local authority and one of the largest employers in Europe.

He has, as he puts it, experienced the impacts of the economic cycle on human resources 'more times than he cares to remember'. His particular interest at the current time is focused upon redirecting the attention of the profession, ensuring that it is seen as the major driver of organisational change and performance within local authority work.
