Alexandra Whittard

I joined the City Council in 2005 as an Administration Manager. One day soon after I found information relating to the fledging BEST programme on Inline. I was very interested in the programme, having recently studied aspects of Employee Engagement. I contacted the team to find out more and to volunteer my services at training days and other events.

I have since worked as a BEST Programme Officer and Directorate Engagement Manager, taking up post recently as the BEST Workshop Programme Lead.

My role involves embedding BEST at all levels throughout Birmingham City Council by refreshing the workshop process for 2010 and providing training and support to enable our fantastic BEST Leaders and Managers to carry out the workshop with their teams. I promote the many and varied BEST-related initiatives such as Dragons Den and Living It awards and help to ensure the Council as a whole reaps the benefits of our Employee Engagement programme.

Current role: BEST Workshop Programme Lead

Room 101: Injustice, motor vehicles, wasps

Couldn't live without: Affection, Internet, flowers

In September, Alexandra will be speaking at the following event:

HR Efficiency: Reducing Costs Without Reducing Performance
Wednesday 23rd September 2009 – Central London

Capita’s HR Efficiency Seminar will provide you with the skills required to balance short term cost savings with the need to equip your organisation to come out of the recession fighting fit; demonstrating HR’s value to the business.

As the recession continues this is an unmissable chance to show what contribution HR can make. Cost cutting will be a priority but it needs to be handled innovatively and sensitively to enable you to invest in the future, maintain employee motivation and be ready for recovery.
